Togo Part II

Update:
I ended up receiving more donations form friends and family after I posted my last blog. This money went a long way and I was able to accomplish many things. I’ve included pictures for everyone’s entertainment and so you all could see where the money went. I continue receiving thank you letters from everyone in Togo but the real people who should be thanked are those who donated. Without the donations none of this would have been possible. This is how the money was spent:
  • Repaired the beds
  • Bought mattresses
  • Electrical repairs & installations
  • Office supplies
  • Garbage cans
  • Basket ball and soccer ball for teenagers
  • Balls for smaller kids
  • Sugar used to prepare porridge
  • Fire wood to cook
  • Fixed locks and installed door knobs/handles
  • Installed shelves for storage
  • Installed a clothesline
  • Painted interior and exterior
  • Brooms
  • Sandals for kids
  • Shoes for teenagers
  • Cement and paved a section of orphanage
  • College tuition for one boy
  • Books for college boy
  • Uniforms for all
  • School books for all
  • Kitchen supplies (knives, pots, etc.)
  • Two mirrors so that the boys and girls could see themselves
  • Wall clock (they couldn’t tell time)
  • Benches for seating
  • Cleats so they could form a soccer team
  • All-in-one copier, fax, and printer
  • Donation for other orphanage
  • Doctor visits for three orphanages
  • Medications to treat all sorts of ailments at 3 orphanages (cured two with Malaria)
  • Vaccinated 153 people with Yellow Fever, Meningitis, Typhoid, and Tetanus at three orphanages + health cards for recordkeeping
  • Salary for 5 employees who weren’t paid in 4 months (have been there for years)

Didn't make many friends on this day:

YES, I did (Had to, it was my party!)
